[Photos] Hiking to Pramen Labe & Pan?avsky Waterfall, the Highest in Czech Republic

      November 8, 2016

In previous part of this hiking trip, I mentioned about two points of interest that I was really looking forward to.

      Let's go!

Here! This is one of them.

      1. Pramen Labe

It simply means Source of Labe.

For those people who have not been to Czech yet, you might never heard about Labe River. But, this river is the best part of my town Hradec Kralove. I usually jog, walk and even cycle along the river - see how significant it is in my heart.

Can you see Hradec Kralove there? Basically there is a wall full of the badges. What do they mean? The badges show which cities Labe River pass through! :D

See, a lot! Two countries included - Czech & Germany.

The other name of this river is Elbe (mostly used for German parts of it). I think I mentioned a lot about this river in most posts in this blog. Hehe

Basically this is it. Macam telaga je dah. :p The scary part that time was, I was literally walking on the icy water - not sure if the water is the river itself or the frozen snow.
After Pramen Labe, my next stop was a restaurant - to warm myself with a cup of hot chocolate or maybe some warm soup. I need heater obviously, my feet were frozen, my socks were wet. See the roof? That's the restaurant. Not so many people in it, I bet because of the weather.

Interior design of the restaurant. I ordered garlic soup. That's the only cheap vegetarian food. Haha.

      View from my seat.

After buying some postcards and I warmed myself enough, I continued my hiking trip to the next point. The views never fail to amaze me, despite it was so cold!

Look, snow everywhere on the trail. I just could not differentiate any stones beneath the snow. T_T

Glad to have blue sky suddenly.

      SubhanAllah :D

Okayyyy, this is the place! Can you see the water flowing?

      It doesn't look interesting right?

But guess what, this is actually a waterfall. And another fact, it is the highest waterfall in Czech Republic! with 148 meters.

      2. Pan?avsky waterfall

Yes, it is not as big as waterfall in Malaysia though. I can just imagine Lata Kinjang in Tapah-Cameron Highlands - almost 200meters high.

That are two main attractions of this mountain - Krkono?e Mountain.

Okayy, let's just enjoy the views of the rest of the trip.

      I love the view.

      Fuhhhhhhh.

This is a building for soldiers I think?

      It's almost sunset.

      Sunset.

Look at the signboards. Hahaha. I could not read anything at all. Make sure to have the maps with you to make sure you will not get lost.

      Sunset with thick clouds.

On the way back. Walking down the mountains were challenging as well. So slippery and I walked just like penguins. :p

Kasut yang banyak berjasa. HAHA, Pity this running shoes. :p

I managed to get back to the bus stop about 6pm, an hour earlier than estimated time. It was very dark at that time, luckily I brought along a torchlight. :p Falling down onto icy roads were uncountable. Haha

p/s - The next day, I went wall-climbing for 3 hours. Seriously I have no idea where my energy comes from.
      p/s/s - Yes, I finished the whole route of 20km :D

Macam Mana Korang Eja Terowong Dalam Tulisan Jawi?

      November 7, 2016

This question is seriously a mind-blowing one.

Tapi meh saya bagi snippet macam mana rupa Hallstatt tu. Hihi.

      image for Hallstatt, Austria
      Hallstatt

Perjalanan antara Prague-Hallstatt ni memang banyak lalu pergunungan. Kiranya termasuk la cross mountains melalui terowong-terowong yang jujurnya banyak sangattttt.

Dijadikan cerita, ada seorang kawan, Jawahir timbulkan persoalan macam mana nak eja terowong dalam tulisan jawi.

      Ah sudah.

      HOHOOOO

Kitorang semua ada basic jawi, alhamdulillah. Tapi nak eja terowong ni macam hahaha nampak complicated betul. Mobile data takde pulak masa tu, sampai ke sudah tak tahu jawapan. Masa on the way balik Hradec Kralove, persoalan ni timbul balik. Terus google jawapan.

      Jeng jeng jeng.

Tak sangka ejaannya macam ni. Dan takde seorang pun antara kitorang yang betul. :p

      First answer on Google.

Saya tanya kat Whatsapp group family, ayah saya hantar gambar ni. Memang betul la kot ejaan nya ni :D

Kalau korang ada ejaan yang diyakini betul, meh la kongsi :)

      Gonna miss those moments :D

Hiking Day Trip Plan to ?pindler?v Mlyn, Czech

      November 5, 2016

      It was a struggle.
      Hahaha.

      Thursday, 3th November 2016

I made a huge mistake in my entire hiking life, which was... not checking the weather forecast altogether it meant I underestimated the weather. Maybe because I was eager to enjoy an autumn forest, so I prepared myself with attire for autumn hiking trip.

To my surprise (in which I should not be surprised haha), the mountain was almost white. It was snowing as well, light one.

And it was getting darker, like sunset was around 4.30pm - day time was shorter as it's approaching winter. That's what made the trip harder.

      Welcome to Narnia.

The BASIC DETAILS for the day trip are like this.
      1. Check this map https://mapy.cz/s/1bSCG to see the route I took. The map is too big to share here. T_T Basically it is about 20km walking-hiking, it will take around 8 hours (including time for photographs and some hot chocolate)
      2. I started and ended my hiking at this bus stop ?pindler?v Mlyn, Labská (refer the map in #1)
      3. The cost for the transportation is around 260kc (Hradec Kralove, HK - ?pindler?v Mlyn - Hradec Kralove). The journey between HK and ?pindler?v Mlyn is about 3 hours one way. If you can go there with a car, you can be more flexible with the schedule. No need to rush down to catch the bus.
      4. For first-time hiker, I recommend you to go here in normal weather, I mean, summer or early autumn.
      5. Make sure to check the live camera HERE, so that you won't be surprise to see snow like me. Duh. T_T Then, wear proper attire okay?

My bus from Hradec Kralove was at 6.25am. After about an hour, I arrived at Jicin bus station to change to another bus to ?pindler?v Mlyn. Then, at about 9.30 am, I started my hiking from ?pindler?v Mlyn, Labská bus stop.

I have at least 2 points of interests on this route, hehe you will know about it later. You can find these signboards at every intersections.

Krkono?sky národní park - most of forests in northern part of Czech belong to this national park.

Welcome to winter wonderland. HAHA. Bukan patut autumn lagi ke huhu.

The whitish part of the mountain (in the middle of the picture) is a ski areal.

      Slippery enough!

      The excited Nina. Always.

Hiking between trees is nice for no cold, strong wind 'attacking' you, but the snow is thicker (I guess maybe because it melts slower)

      Fuhhh, breath taking!

And... when walking in an open space like this, it was worst. HAHA, why? Less barrier for wind, slippery icy road.

See, it feels like walking on a road with no end.

Ni namanya ambik semangat lepas beberapa kali rasa nak give up. I have no problem hiking a snowy mountain, but with this running shoes... totally a wrong attire. Kasut basah, stokin basah, jari kaki beku like you can't feel them anymore.

Oh yea, the sparkling white color of the snow... Fuh sakit mata okay bila nak pandang jalan.

I will share more photos in next part. Haha.

Do you think I managed to get to the top and go to the points of interest that I told you just now?
      Let's see.

      Have a nice weekend, everyone!
      Happy birthday, abang long :)
      Salam.

[PHOTOS] Walking Around Dunhope Park & Dundee Law, Scotland

      November 3, 2016

A bit of hiking as well.

That morning, I walked alone. I just don't feel good to interrupt my friends' good sleep after they stayed up working on their thesis. Budak dah habis exam (masa tu) kena bawak diri okay. Haha, they already spent a lot of time with me actually, especially time for cooking. :D

You can expect LOTS OF PICTURES in this post okay?

      Welcome to Dunhope Park :D

This park is very close to my friend's house, like 5 minutes walk. Maybe because it was early in the morning, there was almost no one there, except this uncle with his bike. I had my own sweet time walking along the road, gambling my time to get to the highest point of Dundee. You can read it through out this post. :)

I'm not sure is this a part of Dunhope Castle or not. Haha

      Dunhope Castle.

Like how other castles used to be (I went to many castles like this in Czech), this one also was used as a family house, military base, barrack etc as well.

      Dunhope Terrace

The higher entrance of Dunhope Park.

On my way to Dundee Law.

Look at the houses :D Teringat rumah-rumah teres kat Malaysia

Higher point. You can see Tay River slightly over here.

Tay River is getting more visible.

      Okay, now, let's hike up!

Told yea, it was Ramadhan. I was struggling that time as in Scotland I need to fast an extra 2 hours compared to Czech! Haha, nangis rasa.

For Czech, usually we start fasting from 3 am until 9 pm. But, in Scotland it is 2 am until 10 pm. Nak solat tarawih pun memang dah layu badan. Our stomachs were literally full after Maghrib that we were not able to fill in more for Sahur.

But, we still need energyyyyy for the rest of the day.
      Sumbat sumbat sumbat.

Mujur makan jugak sahur tu, ada tenaga untuk hiking :D

      Tay Rail Bridge.

      Another one.

      Again :D

Tay Rail Bridge - 3km++ long

Actually there was a sad story behind this Tay Rail Bridge. The one that we can see now is the 2nd rail bridge constructed across Tay River. It was opened in 1887 while the first one was opened to public in 1878.

What happened to the first bridge, anyway?

Hmmm, I felt really bad when I read about the incident. In 1879, just a few months after the first bridge celebrated its first birthday, the bridge collapsed due to high winds. At the time when the incident occurred, there was a train with 6 carriages crossing the river. Unfortunately the train plunged into icy waters and all people inside the train died. T_T

      Dundee Law.

      Memorial on Dundee Law.

There is a reason behind the name 'law'. I don't really understand as it involved a Scottish word. Rasanya lah kot. But this place is actually the plug of extinct volcano. Banyak betul hasil gunung berapi kat Scotland ni. Masa kat Edinburgh pun, banyak hills yang terjadi berkait dengan volcano jugak.

With the background of Tay Rail Bridge.

      The memorial.
The memorial was built for remembering those people who died in both World Wars. And actually, there was a tunnel running across the Law, but it was closed in 1980s.

      Walking down.

You can drive up the hill, just follow the signboards.

Besar kan pintu pagar dia. :D haha.

It was a good morning hike. There were few other tourists as well and many local people use this hill as morning exercise. I met few runners on this hill, as well as old people who just want to visit the memorial.

Sometimes, I feel awkward to take pictures in this kind of place. Like, how could I look happy with the background of War Memorial?

I hope I have the will to continue my Scotland's posts. Huhuuu

      What Are Your Reading Habits?

I've been auto-tagged again. Lol. Bloggers sekarang ni nakal betul buat auto-tag macam ni. Last time, it was Fatin/Fatina (hahaha suddenly I'm confused how to call you dear) and now Siqah. :D Saja nak ubah tajuk tag, tu yang jadi macam persoalan tu.

      Okay, let's do this!

      1. Do you have certain place at home for reading?

Hmm, not really I think? Although I prefer reading while lying on my bed, I can still read on the sofa, on the swing so far that I can recall.

      2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Neither. I use sticker post-it bookmark. Seriously, I don't know the real name of it, but it simply looks like this :)

      image for sticker post-it bookmark
      The bookmark?

      3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

Oh yea, I prefer non-fiction though, like travelogue, motivation, real life journey (not biography okay) etc, so I basically cannot read the book in one go. I need time to digest what I've read so far and reflect myself on it.

      image for Dracula vs Al-Fateh
This was the last book I lent my late brother. ^_^

      4. Do you eat or drink while reading?

Depends on the book. Sometimes, the story is thought-provoking enough that my forehead sweat a lot while reading. I need water to recover. :) And yeah, I read books in the cafe few times, so I do eat and drink while reading.

      5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

      Instrumental musics, yes.

      6. One book at a time or several at once?

Depends. Sometimes the book I read is complicated enough to digest, so I do alternate with other books as well - the lighter one.

      7. Reading at home or everywhere?

I'm flexible. I can read in the car, in the train - even though this makes me dizzy. Hmm, cafes are included as well, also at the park while watching the ducks swimming in the river. At home, on my bed will be the ultimate comfort.

      image for Bismillah Yang Hilang
      On a train ride :D

      8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

I think most people read silently, no?

      9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

Hmmm, I am not sure about this. Hoho. Both I think?

      10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Break a little. Few books have small spaces between the spine and the contents. So, if I keep it like new, I don't feel comfortable to read it.

      11. Do you write in your books?

Yes and no. Maybe because of the type of books I read, I prefer writing down something on how do I feel with certain contents. That is the reason for a yes. It was before the existence of post-it stickers that I use as bookmark. Now, I will simply put the removable stickers on the page so that I can refer it again. And most of my own personal thought, either I tweet about it or I write it in my Samsung notes. I don't have planner, favorite notebook whatsoever. Haha.

I think I started writing in my books when I know I can write notes in my Quran, like this. T_T

Going for a hike tomorrow, I hope the weather will be on our side. :)

      Good morning, Malaysia.

p/s - Anyway, may I know who is the reader from Seongnam, Kyonggi-do?

      It's Gonna Be Okay :)

      November 2, 2016

No matter what you've been through here you are.
No matter if you think you're falling apart.
      It's gonna be OKAY!

      View from O&G department

It was a tiring month. But enjoyable as well.

I just finished a final exam for O&G, well sakit puan kiranya. I admit that women are complicated that's why we have a special department just for women, unfortunately most doctors in this department are men. :D

Twitter is the place I spam (quite a lot) about academic or medical stuffs, so, I think I won't write a lot about my study in blog. Ye lah, Twitter ni lebih macam medium sharing on the spot, while blog is where I sit down and write a long post. But, I'll try to write about medicine occasionally here, insyAllah.

Ramai yang tak tahu my course rupanya, hehe I managed to hide it well then. :)

Thanks to my lovely housemate for this song. The best one to cheer me up.

Honestly, after experiencing an emotional September, I was having a hard time to calm myself, and to remove all the negative thoughts. It was so not me when I sat alone studying, then suddenly out of nowhere my tears dropped. All songs became triggers. Mental breakdown I must say. Fighting against myself to be the Nina before.

Crying is not my thing. Crying over exams, I can count it over my 6 years here. But... this time, crying over nothing was something different.

Becoming heartless sometimes was also not my style.
I am not heartless and I don't want to be heartless.

I love sharing my thoughts with people, and when I just could not do that, it's torturing me.

Alhamdulillah, for all the supports from people around me.

I don't want to be depressed. I wanna be happy, as long as I am not doing anything that disobey Him. Ameen.

So, let's go for an adventure!
      May Allah bless.
