Tips Sihat 2018 dari Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia (WHO) - Bahagian 2

      January 15, 2018

Okayy, kita sambung dengan point seterusnya yea.

      4. Jangan guna tembakau dalam bentuk apa pun.

Tembakau ni dalam English ialah tobacco. Hehe rasa lagi familiar bila guna tobacco -_-' Dan tembakau ni bukan setakat dihisap (dalam rokok, cerut, paip dan seangkatan dengannya) tapi boleh jugak dikunyah. Kalau pernah tengok orang tua zaman dulu, memang banyak dikunyah tembakau... dan biasanya dibalut dengan daun sireh.

Kenapa tembakau ni bahaya? Sebab dia ada nikotin.
Kenapa nikotin ni bahaya? Sebab dia sejenis perangsang... kiranya senang nak addicted.

Sejenis rokok di Czech. Gambar kat atas rokok tu - lung operation

So, dengan nikotin, bertambah-tambah bahaya.

Hati kat sini saya refer as 'liver' okay? Bukan hati perasaan.

Anything can happen. Kesian okay bila dari baby dah kena hadap macam-macam dari kesilapan maknya.

      6. Kawal stress (untuk kesihatan fizikal & mental)

Stress.

Depression is a mental disorder.

      • Massage / berehat / tidur
      • If it's getting worse, seek help - kaunseling / support group etc.

      Till next points :)

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland | Book Review

      January 14, 2018

No specific reason I bought this novel. -_-' Just because the book was arranged on the same rack as I Believe in a Thing Called Love. Oh maybe the geometric cover of the book is captivating? Haha. Actually the cover is a new version as I have seen the previous cover of this title.

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland
Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland

      Title: Our Chemical Hearts
      Author: Krystal Sutherland
      Pages: 313
      PublisherG.P. Putnam's Sons
      Publication Date: October 2016

      Synopsis:

It is about Henry Page who is still a virgin at 17 years old and finally become interested into a girl when he gets to know a new girl in his school, Grace Town. Grace is not a typical heroin when she does not appear fashionable, beautiful etc. Instead, she wears oversized boys' clothes and even use a cane to walk. They are connected to each other after they are assigned as school magazine editors.

Henry tries to get to know her and slowly her secrets are revealed.

Can Henry accept Grace the way she is now, with all the broken pieces of her?
Can Grace accept Henry in the condition she is stuck in?

And what are actually the reasons behind Grace walking with a cane and the mysteries evolve around her?

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland
Back side of the book with the synopsis

      --------------------------------

Honestly, it took me a while to finally finish reading the book. It is not because the story line is not good but personally it is a heart breaking story. T_T I need to rest a bit before indulging more into the reasons of Grace behaving like a mysterious person and to slowly accept the fact that my heart is slowly torn.

      Beautiful story of unrequited love.

Sorry I am spoiling the plot. I feel very sad as I read the final chapter of the book.

      1. "And all the while I loved her, just as she loved him. In secret, between the shadow and the soul." - Henry

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland
      "It's beautiful." - Henry
"It's sad, I think. Not beautiful." - Grace

This is a poem by Pablo Neruda, shown quite early in the novel when Henry and Grace have different perspective towards those verses.

"I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul."

The poem is replayed quite few times through out the book (if I am not mistaken) and it actually represents the feeling of Grace at that time. Grace changed into someone different after the incident happened to her turning her life upside down, like totally hundred and eighty degrees. T_T

Do you feel sad when you read the poem? Or happy?

      2. Describe yourselves.

Grace is artistic with her words, so do Henry. If we refer to the title of the book, Our Chemical Hearts, we will understand better the title is beautifully describing the story between them.

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland
"Don't you find it strange that whenever anyone asks you to describe yourself, you draw a blank?"

I nodded when I read this line. Exactly.

Sometimes we don't even understand ourselves and that's maybe why we can't easily describe us. Or simply as what Henry said, "There's a lot to cover."

      3. Words - speaking or writing?

Both of them are excellent in writing. But in this novel, it portrays the reason why Grace stopped writing and expresses herself more via speech - when she's speaking with Henry of course.

Some of us are blessed with high confidence level in front of people - to actually give speech. Meanwhile some others are better in confidence via written words. Anyhow, both are still important to live a life, I think? You can't speak via written words when you are on the phone or in any interviews. And you can't talk when you actually need to write an essay. Right?

"You lose the rawness, the truth of who you are if you pass everything through a screen first." - Grace

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland
'Struggle to get the exact message'

So, which one are you - public speaking or writing?
      I am on Henry's team. :D

      4. Henry's Drafts

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland
'a hymn in the web of your veins' wow

No wonder Henry is assigned to edit the magazine, look how beautiful his choices of words!

I love reading poems though most of the times I look forward to stories behind them to understand more. I love quotes even though they can only be my favourite based on my emotions at that time. I love beautiful verses as they can leave permanent spots in my heart (even though they will make me cringe most of the time hahaha)

      5. "You're wounded right now, but you'll heal."

In this novel, you'll be amazed with how supportive people around Henry - his parents, his sister - Sadie, his loyal friends - Murray and Lola etc.

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland
"Have you ever really been happy with her? - Sadie asked Henry

Time will heal the wound - any kinds of wound. Not to permanently erase as wounds always leave scars - but, time will help people to adapt to the changes afterwards. Beautifully.

      --------------------------------

If you expect a happy ending, read the novel to judge yourselves. Hehe.

      My rating: ★★★★☆

Tips Sihat 2018 dari Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia (WHO) - Bahagian 1

      January 12, 2018

Nak kaya? Nak famous?

      Nope.

"I want to be fit and healthy"
      "I want to lose weight"

Feel free to read yourselves.

Kalau ada yang belum follow, I highly recommend you to follow :) Menarik jugak bila baca isu-isu semasa dan kisah-kisah menarik pasal kesihatan sedunia ni. Banyak tips sebenarnya WHO ni share kat Twitter tu.

Tapi itulah, semuanya bergantung pada setinggi mana disiplin dan sekuat mana azam kita :D

"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." - WHO

Used to be my everyday view :) Rinduuuu.

Anyway, let's go through the tips.

      1. Amalkan pemakanan yang sihat.

Senang cakap kan? Tapi memang susah nak buat. Hahaha.

Realiti satu, makanan sihat agak mahal berbanding makanan segera etc.
Realiti tiga, makanan kurang sihat memang sedap. Kan? Hahaha.

      Credit - http://nutrition.moh.gov.my/risalah/

      Tips lain:
      • Kurangkan processed food (contoh: buat burger patties sendiri)
      • Kurangkan air bergula (minuman bergas especially!) Instead, banyakkan minum air kosong. Ada yang recommend 2L sehari.
      • Kurangkan makanan yang deep fry. Banyakkan rebus ataupun guna minyak sayuran macam olive oil.
      • Selain dari gula, kena kurangkan garam jugak. Trust me, hypertension can develop without we realise it. Tiba-tiba je boleh jadi krisis T_T

As someone who learned about healthy meals, memang rasa sangat cliche. Sentap jugak sebenarnya. Sebab saya pun struggle nak buat. Hahaha.

      Kena disiplin okay?

Avokado - contoh makanan sihat yang mahal hahaha.

      2. Jadi aktif setiap hari (dengan cara kita sendiri).

Memang senang kan kalau duduk rumah goyang kaki. Too bad that I am one of the best examples right now. T_T Adoiiii, struggle betul rasa nak bergerak.

My favourite thing to do. :)

      What can we do?
Hehe.
      • Banyakkan berjalan. Tak kisah lah cara apa sekalipun - window shopping, parking jauh-jauh, berlari setempat etc.

      3. Ambil vaksin.

A bit nervous to start working soon, potensi untuk jumpa orang yang against vaccines ni banyak je. Stick to the vaccination table.

      Credit - http://www.myhealth.gov.my/jadual-imunisasi/

Kita kena faham kenapa kena vaksin. Prevention is ALWAYS better than cure.

InsyAllah saya pecahkan jadi beberapa bahagian. :)

      Selamat membaca.
      Dan selamat beramal.
Mengamalkan cara hidup yang sihatttt yeay! :D

      My Sa'ie Experiences

January 11, 2018 Mecca Saudi Arabia

After tawaf, we can directly proceed to Safa for Sa'ie. Otherwise, if we want to rest a bit, we can still wait for a better time that day (but just be careful for rules in ihram) :)

Sa'ie is walking between Mount Safa & Marwah 7 times - 450m one way. When I was younger, I imagined the real mountains T_T. Sorry for being too ignorant, but today, the area to- and fro- these mountains are properly prepared for people. With beautiful and clean pathways covered with cold tiles, we can perform sa'ie comfortably.

Actually, I am not sure if they are mountains or hills. Sorry, can't check about them. Hehe.

      Ayah Mak :D

I think it will be great if we understand the story behind Sa'ie and I believe most of us know about it. Alhamdulillah. Just to refresh our memories...

As we all know Sa'ie is based on Siti Hajar (wife of Nabi Ibrahim a.s.) who was left with their son, Nabi Ismail at the isolated desert with some water and dates. She believed it was ordered by Allah when Nabi Ibrahim told her to do so. When the water was running out that reduced her milk, she ran in between Safa and Marwah to search for water and maybe some people who happened to be there for her to ask help.

After trying her best, Allah helped them by rewarding Zam-zam spring, at the place where the heel of Nabi Ismail was. Since then, Makkah is rich with unlimited source of water. :D

Exit tawaf area, we will find signboards To Masa'a (Al-Safa) / SAEE etc.

      Experiences for Sa'ie:

Always start from Safa as there was one lady asking me which part to start. I assumed she was confused of which side was which. There is a signboard stated 'Safa Start'.

Zam-zam water is provided along the pathway, take our time if we need water or rest.

People from all over the world :)

We can find toilets closer to Mount Marwah.

The green light - men are to hasten their walk (but not running). Then, return to normal pace at the end of green light.

      • Refer our guide book for all du'a for each route. Otherwise, we can simply read Quran along the way. Or, doalah apa-apa yang nak :D
      • At the area for Sa'ie, if we feel tired of walking between Safa & Marwah, we can always sit down close to the walls and read Quran :)
      • I've been told that it would be nicer to have wudu' while sa'ie but it is not compulsory (compared to tawaf), so no worries if we are no longer in wudu'.
      • If we perform sa'ie when the time is quite close to any prayers, please be kind to prepare for prayers first when we hear the azan (especially for women). Don't worry, we can always find places to pray at Mount Marwah or at the back of it (as long as we are not blocking the sa'ie)
      • Wear good socks, going down Mount Safa & Marwah can be quite slippery. Be careful :)
      • There are areas for wheelchairs as well.
      • I've been told that Sa'ie can be done on ground floor or first floor. But, during my trip there, only the ground floor was open I think.
      • For tahallul (trimming / cutting hair), we can do it anywhere - either directly after we finish the sa'ie or we can wait to do it at the hotel room. For women, be careful not to expose the aurat while doing so in public.

      Me and Ayah.

      My Tawaf Experiences

apa yang perlu tahu untuk tawaf
      Kaabah

There are two big topics for Umrah that we should learn and know before flying to Saudi Arabia for Umrah.

      1. Rukun Umrah
      • Niat (intention for Umrah)
      • Tawaf
      • Sa'ie
      • Trim / cut the hair (tahallul)
      • Tertib
      2. Wajib Umrah
      • Niat for Umrah at Miqat
      • Avoid all forbidden stuffs while in ihram

apa yang perlu tahu untuk tawaf
For tawaf, if we want to be closer to Kaabah, enter via this door (Access Door for Ihram).

      Experiences for tawaf:
      • Advantage for women, this door is open for we anytime. While for men, you need to be in kain ihram to enter this door.
      • Otherwise, you need to get to first floor to perform tawaf. Same goes to if you have someone with wheelchair to tawaf along.
      • Other alternative - use the scooter on top of Masjidil Haram (but I have not much knowledge about this)
      • Although there are LOTSSS OF PEOPLE, keep in mind that Allah will surely provide area for us to tawaf.
      • Just... to get closer to Hajarul Aswad is very challenging (especially for Asian girl like me). Same goes to praying in Hijr Ismail. It is possible, I strongly believe. Just I would recommend for us to complete the umrah first, then come again for tawaf sunat and attempt to touch Hajarul Aswad / pray in Hijr Ismail etc
      • For shoes - if we believe the shoes are clean, put into our bag and tag along. If not, just tawakal and leave the shoes at the spaces provided.

apa yang perlu tahu untuk tawaf
      Outside tawaf area.

      • Keypoint - be patient. Sabaaaaarrrrr banyak banyak
      • People can push us every single time. I would recommend if we perform tawaf with healthy men (husband / brother / father), ask them to tawaf behind us.
      • Hold tightly to our group. We may lose sight of one another there but be careful to search as it will distract us from tawaf and cancel that round of tawaf.
      • Pray hard that we will always be in wudu' here. Please try our best not to be in need of toilets. It will be quite challenging to take wudu' / to go to the toilets. For wudu', yes, we can always use spray but be careful not to expose our aurat.
      • After tawaf, don't forget to perform solat sunat tawaf and drink zam-zam at the places provided.

apa yang perlu tahu untuk tawaf
      Post tawaf.

Chance to pray closer to tawaf area.
My tawaf was all uneventful, I mean alhamdulillah all of them went well. There was one time Emak and I had the chance to pray right in front of Kaabah. We were stucked actually as we didn't want to start tawaf yet as Asar was approaching. But, the guards kept on instructing us to move forward. Once azan began, people started to put their praying mats and prepared for Asar. We followed and wow, fortunately the guards didn't say anything.

apa yang perlu tahu untuk tawaf
      Praying area.

Attempt to touch Hajarul Aswad and making du'a at Multazam.
There was one time I went for tawaf sunat alone with the plan to attempt to touch Hajarul Aswad and do the rest possible ibadah afterwards. Tawaf was okay, alhamdulillah. After the 7th round, I slowly moved towards Kaabah. Managed to feel the kiswah (cloth that cover the Kaabah), it was beautifully made with silk and embroidered with gold thread. Not even that, when I touched the cloth, it smelt so good! SubhanAllah. No wonder we are not allowed to touch Kaabah when we are still in ihram - the fragrance.

Then, slowly I waited for Hajarul Aswad. I was close enough that I could see a glimpse of it. It was a good position for me at that time though - in front of me was a woman from Brunei and at the back was few women from Indonesia.

Unfortunately, suddenly a few Indian men crushed onto us - well imagine they were obviously larger than us, the Asian ladies. They were really aggressive that I felt so sick. Kena himpit camni pun dah sakit, macam mana lah Bilal dulu kena tindih dengan batu. T___T

After few minutes stucked there with no signs of movement, I decided to abort the mission. Takpelah, belum rezekinya. But, to step away from that huge crowd was not an easy task. :D Hehe. Kenangan betul lah.

apa yang perlu tahu untuk tawaf
      Kaabah from rooftop.

      Tawaf wada'
Tawaf wada' is compulsory and done when someone is going to leave Makkah. In my case, Makkah was my first destination, then we would move to Madinah.

My eyes usually focused to the floor and Kaabah alternately just to make sure I would be in the right position (like bahu kiri kena menghala Kaabah dan jangan terlari)

The interesting part was suddenly I saw a glimpse of Maryam and her family. Hahadoii :) We were there with different agents but same dates, same routes. I just smiled to myself and continued my tawaf.

Similar point to mention, we may feel excited to meet or to see someone we know, but that's a challenge. One of the rules of tawaf is we walk around Kaabah with the one purpose which is tawaf. Once we start looking around to search for them in the crowd, this may cancel our round of tawaf.

Next post will be about sa'ie :)
      Till then.

Daily Activities in Makkah, Saudi Arabia

January 10, 2018 Mecca Saudi Arabia

For the first two days, I was a bit confused of what to do. Only after I successfully performed my first Umrah, I could adapt to the environment. :) Alhamdulillah.

      aktiviti harian di mekah
      Kaabah.

My parents and I together with the rest of our groupmates spent 6 days in total in Makkah (including the day we arrived). Have I told you that the hotel is just approximately 50 meters to King Abdulaziz Gate? Even from the hotel, some of us who stayed at the upper floors (like 7 and above) can see the Kaabah directly from their bedrooms' glass wall. :D

So, this was one thing to put in my mind at that time, that I should not miss any opportunities to pray inside Masjidil Haram especially the five daily prayers (Masjid al-Haram can be used to refer to the same mosque) since it was extremely near.

“Solat di masjidku ini (masjid Nabawi) lebih baik daripada 1,000 solat di tempat yang lain melainkan masjid al-Haram. Dan solat di Masjid al-Haram lebih baik daripada 100 ,000 solat di tempat lain”. [Riwayat Ahmad (15271)]

      aktiviti harian di mekah
      View from the dining area.

So, our plans for Makkah were roughly like these:-

      Day 1 (18th Dec 2017)
      - Check in to Safwa Hotel
      - Perform Umrah

      Day 2 (19th Dec 2017)
      - Free activities

      Day 3 (20th Dec 2017)
      - Ziarah to Jabal Nur, Jabal Tsur, Jabal Rahmah, places for Hajj.
      - Niat for Umrah at Masjid Jaranah

      Day 4 (21st Dec 2017)
      - Ziarah to camel areas etc.
      - Niat for Umrah at Masjid Hudaibiyah

      Day 5 (22nd Dec 2017)
      - Free activities
      - Jumaah prayer at Masjidil Haram

      Day 6 (23rd Dec 2017)
      - Tawaf Wada'
      - Check out
      - Travel to Madinah

      aktiviti harian di mekah
One of the praying areas for women. You can see Kaabah in between the pillars :D
      aktiviti harian di mekah
Shelves for Quran. They are almost everywhere in Masjidil Haram.

Emak and I always try our best to get good spots to pray. What I meant with good spots is areas that we can see the Kaabah.

Can you imagine the feeling of seeing Kaabah in real life, in front of these two eyes (plus another two for the glasses)? It feels surreal! Unbelievable! People always said that once we enter Masjidil Haram, try to find Kaabah. At first, I was a bit nervous if I could not see the Kaabah. But alhamdulillah, nothing like that happen to us and most of the things turned out very well. :)

      aktiviti harian di mekah
      After Subuh prayer.

Compared to Masjid Nabawi, it is easier for us to be together in Masjidil Haram. As the doors / gates are open for both genders, but still, praying areas for men and women are separated (except of some reasons here and there - I understand it is not easy to control such a huge number of people).

Usually, my parents and I went to Masjidil Haram together via King Abdulaziz Gate and we promised / planned to meet at specific areas - in our case, the escalator. It was tricky a bit as the guards won't allow people to wait there as it would cause congestion.

So, if you will be going there, choose less crowd area to meet.

      aktiviti harian di mekah
Meals with the view of Masjidil Haram.

On days that we had ziarah, we would go back to the hotel after Fajr prayers and had breakfast. For those who plan to do another Umrah, the bus would stop at Miqat. For men, be ready with ihram (either you wear ihram directly from the hotel or you can change at the miqat later).

Few things I found to be crucial while in Makkah (in Madinah as well) are:
      • nametag with lanyard
      • sling bag provided by your agent (trust me, it would be easier to spot Malaysians this way)
      • small bag for shoes (sarung kasut)
      • spray for wudu'
      • tissues
      • sejadah

So basically, days in Makkah will be spent mostly in Masjidil Haram (especially for five daily prayers). Free times are usually after Fajr and Isya' prayers as the time towards the next prayers will be longer.

      Meals.
Meals are usually provided by the hotel (depends on your package) and will start after prayers. Like breakfast will start after Fajr prayer, lunch after Zuhur prayer and dinner after Isya' prayers.

      Shopping.
If you want to go shopping, you can do it between Fajr and Zuhur prayer. People said the prices are cheaper in Madinah compared to Makkah. I agree in disagree. It also depends on your bargaining skills :) For jubah, we got the simple one for 20 riyal each, and the full manik-manik for 80-90riyal. Again, depends on the patterns that you want.

Another point, it is better to go shopping in Madinah as your time in Makkah can be fully used for ibadah. The rewards are even larger, right?

      Local phone number.
It depends on you actually. If you and family members stay in the same room, it is not needed then. But for us, Mak and I stayed in a female room while Ayah in a male room on another floor. It was hard at the beginning to reach each other only then we decided to buy each of us local numbers. Since the passports were with the mutawiffah, we successfully bought our numbers at the perfume shops. Hoho, ada Bangladeshi ni set kan.

Can't remember the exact price. But Ayah and Mak got themselves sim cards for calls for 50 riyal each (with 10 riyal credit inside) while I got myself a sim card for 85 riyal ( 2GB data plus 10 riyal credit). Maybe you can get better prices somewhere else or mungkin kitorang kena tipu je harga ni but I am not that enthusiastic to find other offers. T_T And actually the Bangladeshi cheated by setting up only 1GB on my sim card instead of 2GB. Hahahadoiiii.

      Till next posts,
InsyAllah I am going to share my experiences of tawaf and sa'ie :)
